Tui beer has a long-running advertising campaign (since before I left New Zealand), under the slogan “Yeah right.” (“I’ve been studying all summer.” — “Yeah right.”) A mate of mine just snapped a wonderfully altered version of one of these storeside ads. Kudos to the originator, and hopefully Robin will keep us updated if any more get improved.
(Google also brought me to a story from 2003, where the same campaign was coopted for anti-war messages. With a slogan that versatile, it’s not surprising they’ve stuck to it for so long. Non-Kiwis, that story also gives a bit more context about the ad campaign and its target audience, which makes the message Robin snapped even more biting.)
