I’m going to live in a houseboat! In Amsterdam North, almost within spitting distance of Central Station (if you know Noord: it’s opposite Ot en Sien, the pub a couple of hundred metres up from the ferries).
We told the landlord yesterday we’d take it. It’s two stories (decks I suppose — I mentioned that it’s a housboat, right?), bedrooms on the lower deck and the entire upper is one combined kitchen and living room. Heaps of space, with a fireplace and a comfy lounging pit in front of it. Small balcony also, overlooking the canal. (It’s a houseboat, I mentioned that, right?)
Trouble is, I’m committed to my current place until August (beginning or end, depending on other stuff). And we get the houseboat from May 1st. So if anyone wants to live for three or four months on a houseboat, let me know. (It’s a houseboat! How cool is that?!)

You be damned!!! I tried to get one of those boats for years and never got it. It sounds ultra cool (well….maybe not that much, but very nice indeed). You gotta send pics!
Heh. It’s slightly less cool than I’ve made out: it’s a floating house, rather than a boat you live in. But that’s still pretty damn cool! Pics: I’ve got no camera, might see if one of the others has when they move in though.
Samson, Hoeveel huur vraag je voor de woonboot ik weet mischien iemand
Sorry N.Z. it’s in Dutch
Oops, should have updated this: we seem to have filled everything (amazing how quickly that happens in Amsterdam…). Thanks Andre for the interest, though.
